I love camping!

I grew up in a non-camping household. We never stayed anywhere unless we could order room service. I'm not trying to be snotty, but that is just the way it was.
I was fortunate enough to have a friend who took me with her family when they went camping over the course of a few summers. I have very fond memories of those trips.
Tonight, I took my daughter to a small camping trip put on by our church. Lucky for us, the conservation area we were going to, was super close to our house. We commited to going for the firepit dinner, and campfire, but then come home to sleep. I thought this course of action might be best as, a) we don't own a tent other than the kiddie one we got from Ikea, and b) she's only 5, and I haven't gone camping in years!
Anyway, it was a really great experience. The conservation area was beautiful! We were in a secluded area, but still so close to civilization. DD and I took a couple of nature walks, played frisbee, badminton, and catch (stuff we've never done together before). Then we enjoyed roasting marshmallows at the campfire. Although, DD thought the "real" fire was too hot, and then didn't like her barely toasted marshmallow. She preferred to eat them raw from the bag.
Oh, well. As a first experience, it was still a great one!

Now, I'm going to go buy a tent!
